Botox, as we all know, is an injectible anti-aging procedure that actually works by paralyzing certain facial muscles and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. But now we are being told that Botox could be of help for hair as well.
There are different reports about how Botox can work for hair – on the one hand is a Botox treatment for hair developed that is supposed to get inside damaged hair and repair problems such as split ends.
This is contrary to all that we know about split ends; that you can prevent them, but not repair them.
This treatment is supposed to work by penetrating the hair shaft to seal breaks and gaps and may last up to 10 washes.
Also the treatment devised by the cosmetic company L’Oreal, is supposed to make hair feel thicker and stronger.
This treatment is supposed to reverse the effects of the many aggressions that our hair is subject to, such as straightening, ironing, blow drying, chemical treatments and so on, which dry out and damage hair.
Apart from this, Botox is supposed to also offer a hair loss remedy – California-based Dr Simon Ourian discovered this hair re-growing ability of Botox when he started to inject it into his mother’s scalp to help her cope with headaches that were brought on by chemotherapy. He found that the areas of the scalp where Botox was injected seemed to re-growing hair.
As a result of this ‘discovery’ Dr Ourian developed a hair loss treatment involving Botox as well as certain other vitamins; that could help by improving blood circulation within the scalp and further stimulate the production of new hair follicles.
The treatment involves injections taken 2-3 times a year to help reduce tension in the scalp and delivering nutrients to the hair, to reactivate growth.
