Caring for Your Ghds

If you have purchased a new set of ghd hair straighteners, or a ghd hair dryer, you know that you have bought a high quality product. But there are certain things you can do to make sure that your new ghds stay in the best condition.

The first thing to remember is that ghd hair straighteners are electrical items so shouldn’t be used near water “ so keep them out of the bathroom as even the steam can affect them, and if you drop them in water it could be disastrous!

The straighteners also get exceptionally hot, typically around 180 degrees, so it is also important to make sure that you avoid touching the plates or letting them come into contact with your skin.

Keep them away from flammable objects when styling your hair: it is not a good idea to rest them on your duvet cover! You can also buy heat protective mats to rest your ghds on so that you don’t damage any furniture. Never spray styling spray straight onto the straighteners as this could cause a fire.

When it comes to making sure your styler stays in perfect condition it is important to turn the straighteners off as well as unplugging it after use.

When it comes to storing the styler, it should be stored in the same way it was packaged in its box “ you should never wrap the cord round the body of the straightener or round anything else for that matter as that could mean that the cord becomes damaged.

You should also ensure that the cord doesn’t come in contact with the plates while they are hot or cooling down as this could melt the plastic insulation of the cord and damage it “ if this does happen you will need to consult a qualified electrician or send the styler off for repair at a reputable supplier.

When storing the styler always lay it flat on a heat resistant surface and never hang it by the cord. If you follow these steps you should get years of use out of your ghds.
