Not Flossing Teeth Regularly
Most of us do not floss teeth or floss only once in a while. Flossing of teeth and mouth is as important as brushing and must be done as regularly as brushing. Flossing helps to remove the food particles from in between the teeth and also from the gums, all parts where the brush might not reach. As the food particles are left behind, bacteria grows and causes foul smell.
Not Using Mouth Wash
Mouth wash may not be necessary for good oral hygiene but is definitely useful for reducing the foul smell coming from the mouth. Doing mouth wash after every meal or twice a day can keep the bad breath at bay and can greatly reduce the smell. You must make it a point to have an antibacterial mouth wash which helps to reduce bacteria.
Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits
Apart from not following good oral hygiene habits, many bad and unhealthy lifestyle habits can be responsible for bad breath. Smoking or chewing tobacco are the main reasons for bad breath and can also cause stains on teeth. Smoking can also irritate the gums and cause many other oral problems.
The Foods you Eat
The types of foods you eat also determine the smell that comes from the mouth. If you eat a lot of non-vegetarian food, then a smell is bound to come out of your mouth. So you must watch the foods you eat to prevent or stop the bad breath.
Diseases and Problems
There are many diseases and problems which too can be responsible for causing bad breath. Some of these include dry mouth, salivary gland problems, pneumonia, bronchitis, chronic sinus infections, diabetes, yeast infections of the mouth, gum diseases and even liver or kidney problems. These problems may either cause bad breath directly or indirectly and you must get tested to see the real cause.
