Home Remedies for Severe Dry Skin

Having severe dry skin means that the oil glands are producing less oil than they should. This is a common problem during the cold season because of the low temperatures and low humidity levels. The body parts that are usually affected include the thighs, chest, lower arms, abdomen, the area around the eyes and the cheeks.


1. Massage

In order to treat your dry skin, you should massage it with olive oil or almond oil before going to bed. Naturally you can use the oils to massage other body parts as well that have been dried out. Another solution to take care of dry skin that is severe is to massage the skin with grapeseed oil. On the other hand, you could also be using castor oil or avocado oil.

2. Water

In order to clean your face in case you have dry skin, you should get the skin soaking in lukewarm water for about 10 minutes. Although it might feel good, you shouldn’t be washing your face with hot water in case of dry skin that is severe, especially during the cold season.

3. Mix it

Create a mask for your dry skin that is severe though mixing an egg yolk with a teaspoon of olive oil, a teaspoon of orange juice and some lime juice and rose water. You should apply the mask on your skin about 15 minutes before you take a bath in the morning.

4. Banana

This is one of the best natural solutions for severe dry skin. You just have to mesh it and then apply it on your neck and face. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

5. Mask it

Another mask that you could use to treat your dry skin that is severe is to mix a teaspoon of raw honey with a teaspoon of grey clay powder. Mix well and then apply it to your face. Make sure that the mask doesn’t get to your eyes. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

6. Exercise

Although you might think that this has nothing to do with severe dry skin, in case you exercise, you can improve the blood circulation in your skin.

7. Alcohol and caffeine

These are two agents that you should try to avoid in case you have dry skin, especially during the winter.

8. Aloe vera

You could apply it almost anytime on your dry skin that is severe, but the best moment to apply it is after having a bath. It is best to massage it on your skin while it is still damp.

9. Vitamin A and B

In order to get these vitamins to help you with your severe dry skin, you should make sure that you have a lot of fruits and vegetables that contain them, such as carrots. You can be sure that it’s not only your eyes that will have to benefit from the beta-carotene but it also maintains the healthy skin tissue.
