The Pros and Cons of a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty
Posted on Sep 05, 2013 | Comments 0
There are a lot of people who don’t like the way their nose looks, but they are afraid of having a surgery. The good news is that there is a way to reshape the nose without the use of a scalpel: non-surgical nose reshaping.
How it Works
The main method followed is to have cosmetic filler injected into the nose. These fillers are made of water and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is something like a gel and it can be found in the connective tissues of the human body.
If it is injected into the body, the body will gradually assimilate it while giving a well-defined shape to the part. Several treatment sessions might be needed to achieve the desired results.
A Painless Option
The good thing about the procedure is that it is fast and there is no pain, unlike in the case of a rhinoplasty. The doctor applies anesthetic gel to the region to be treated and the injection only takes a minute. There is little or no bruising and there is no long recovery time. It takes about an hour for the effect of the anesthetic to wear off.
Finances
A treatment of this kind costs about $450 per session. Although you might think that it is quite expensive, you should consider that a traditional rhinoplasty costs at least $5,000 and has the added disadvantage of a much longer recovery time.
Subtle Effects
If you would like to have subtle changes, this is the right treatment option for you. You can use it on the tip of the nose in case of small asymmetries, or on the base of the nose to correct a hook. Even the smallest changes can make a big difference in a person’s self-confidence and self-esteem.
Cons
Although it seems magical, the truth is that not everybody is thrilled about the procedure. Some of the surgeons say that the treatment is still in the trial phase and there is no telling about possible side effects in the long-term. We have to add that cosmetic fillers aren’t tested thoroughly and so the patients don’t always know that they are bargaining for.
It is up to you to decide whether you’d like to have non-surgical rhinoplasty or not. However, you should make sure that you know all about the pros and cons of the treatment before making a decision.
